Masterplanning & Estates

We develop masterplans and estate strategies that bring together buildings, landscape and long-term use. Our work ranges from small groups of rural homes to the renewal of established estates, considering how existing structures and new development can form coherent and lasting places.

Each project begins with an understanding of its wider setting, including landscape character, patterns of settlement, access and infrastructure. We look for opportunities to make thoughtful use of existing buildings and land, developing proposals that balance architectural ambition with practical considerations of planning, phasing and delivery.

Approach

We begin by considering the site as a whole, exploring how buildings, routes, landscape and the spaces between them relate to one another. Topography, views, orientation, shelter and existing patterns of settlement help inform where development should take place and how individual buildings might be arranged.

A successful masterplan needs to accommodate change over time. We consider heritage, ecology, access, infrastructure and planning constraints alongside architectural design, identifying opportunities for new development and the adaptation of existing buildings. Our aim is to establish a clear and considered framework that can guide individual projects and their delivery over time.

How We Work

We provide architectural services from initial site assessments and feasibility studies through development options, concept masterplans and planning applications, with detailed design and construction-stage services for individual buildings where commissioned.

Working with landowners, clients, planning consultants, landscape architects, engineers and other specialists, we develop proposals that respond to the opportunities and constraints of each site. We consider phasing, cost and deliverability from the outset, allowing a wider vision to be developed into practical stages of work.
